Organic UK and Monica Galetti Live

Chef Monica Galetti is helping raise awareness for the ‘Organic Naturally Different’ campaign.  She is passionate about organic ingredients, and I was fortunate enough to be invited to an event where she shared her views on organic food and even cooked up some tasty healthy treats for us ;-)

With the amazing Monica Galetti, from Masterchef the Professionals on BBC1 and Le Gavroche, the three Michelin starred Restaurant of Michel Roux Jr.

Monica Galetti comments; “As a chef, it is vital to source good quality, good value produce which is exactly what organic is. My new organic recipes show that you can really make your food go further – they aren’t just organic – they’re thrifty too. I’m excited to be helping to explain the importance of organic food and drink. It makes total sense for me to become involved in the campaign as I use lots of organic in my cooking – I see it as good value, it contains fewer pesticide residues and it also helps the environment.”

It was great to see this basket, a week’s worth of organic food for around £50 which is the average spend for a family.

Catherine Fookes, the campaign manager for ‘Organic. Naturally Different’ says “We are delighted to announce Monica Galetti’s support for the campaign. It was imperative we find someone to represent our strong core values– Monica is the perfect person with her straight-talking style, we knew that people would really listen to and her passion for provenance and love of organically sourced food.”

Continues Catherine; “The recent positive sales increases in organic reflect the fact that consumers who’ve seen our campaign have a greater understanding and interest in their food and issues concerning the environment and animal welfare * so the demand for good quality organic ingredients looks set to increase.”

The Jersey Food Festival celebrates the best produce Jersey has to offer, from incredible shellfish to fantastic fruit and vegetables to their famous Jersey Butter.  Here are my photos from their event at Good Housekeeping in Covent Garden.

The raw foraged sea vegetables are delicacies, which are growing in popularity here, and are already widely used in Japanese cuisine.  They have strong fragrant flavours, some similar to pepper, others to truffles.
